My job as an esthetician and skin specialist is to work on the surface of your skin, stimulate, firm and increase the production of your cells, collagen, and elastin. But you can enhance those results even more by improving your daily diet. EFA’s (Essential Fatty Acids), especially Omega 3, are very important in the process of repair, elasticity, hydration and texture of the skin.
Our body cannot produce its own EFAs, so we must provide them in form of food. EFA deficiency and Omega 6/3 imbalance are linked to serious health conditions, such as heart attacks, cancer, insulin resistance, asthma, depression, , premature aging, stroke, diabetes, arthritis, ADHD, and Alzheimer’s Disease, among others.
There are many sources of EFA’s, but the most beneficial for your health and skin are flaxseed oil, walnuts, chia seeds, flax seeds, hempseeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, avocados, dark leafy green vegetables (kale, spinach), canola and olive oil (cold-pressed and unrefined), salmon, mackerel, or sardines.
Don’t overdue on fish since most of it contains mercury. Good fat is essential to a beautiful skin, healthy body, good mood and happiness!!!
